We need your help. Starting June 12, adults on Medi-Cal may lose access to GLP-1 medications, a critical evidence-based treatment for obesity. This is a serious step backward for health equity in California.
The National Consumers League wrote a letter urging state leaders to preserve access to these medications. But your voice is essential to make sure they listen. Sign our petition now to tell Governor Newsom and the California Legislature to protect access to obesity care and uphold the Obesity Bill of Rights. Here is the smart case for maintaining it.
Time is running out. Take action today.
Today, Medicare denies older adults access to new anti-obesity medications, leaving millions of seniors vulnerable to disability, disease and premature death due to lack of treatment. To change this situation, Congress is working to pass the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA), which will end the coverage exclusion for AOMs and expand access to intensive behavioral therapy – or IBT – at the community level.
The Obesity Bill of Rights establishes the right to coverage for obesity care for all Americans. With TROA, Congress will ensure that older adults are not left out.
